We are grateful and excited that you are joining us on this pilgrimage to Fatima and Santiago de Compostela. You will book your own flights to Europe and back to the USA. We recommend booking early for the best prices and easier connections.

Choosing the best option for you

You may book a multi-city flight such as:

Option A
Kansas City → Lisbon → Santiago de Compostela → Kansas City

Or:

Option B
Kansas City → Lisbon → Madrid → Kansas City
(If returning from Madrid, you will need to take a train from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid. See details below.)

Pros:
This option is usually about $400 cheaper.

Cons:
You will need to take a train for about 3.5 hours, but it can be a fun and scenic part of your European trip.

Helpful airline booking websites that allow multi-city trips:

How to book a multi-city ticket:

Use Google Flights, Skyscanner or Kayak and select “multi-city” instead of “round trip.”

Enter one of the following options:

Option A
• Kansas City (MCI) to Lisbon (LIS)
• Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) to Kansas City (MCI)

Option B
• Kansas City (MCI) to Lisbon (LIS)
• Madrid (MAD) to Kansas City (MCI)
(If choosing Option B, you will travel from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid by train.)

Train from Santiago to Madrid

If choosing Option B, you will travel from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid by train. This is a cheaper, and scenic option.

• Take a high-speed train from Santiago de Compostela to Madrid.
• Travel time is about 3 to 3.5 hours.
• Trains run multiple times per day.

Buying train tickets:

• Spain’s national rail service:
https://www.renfe.com/es/en

• Easy third-party booking sites:
https://www.thetrainline.com
https://www.omio.com

You can buy tickets online, or at the train station.

After arriving in Madrid by train:
• Trains arrive at Chamartín Station in central Madrid.
• Travel to Madrid Airport (MAD) by taxi or Metro (about 30–60 minutes).

Helpful tip:
Book flights and trains early for better prices and seat availability.
